Since I had my WLS I have tried a lot of different protein. I have sampled a little this and that coming to the conclusion that there is some good choices out there. The main exception seems to be protein shakes and drinks. I have found that these seem to fall into 2 major categories. Those that are good to drink and those that are well … good for you. If it tastes good the fat calorie and carb count is all bad. I looked at one today that had almost 300 calories in it. I am sure that it is tasty as advertised but honestly who has 300 calories to throw away? You do .. well I don’t. I didn’t get this surgery just to hop onto an old bad habit and regain it all in the end.
There is good news. There are a couple of ways to get your protein drink and not hate it. I tried a few but most of them are just way too much work and I am just not that into the process. The easiest thing I have found so far is to buy the vanilla flavor and add sugar free syrups in the flavor that you want. DaVinci and Torani both make more choices than you can imagine. I will grab my blender bottle and go to town almond rocha, raspberry, chocolate, English toffee, mocha the possibilities are almost endless. I buy mine at World Market but you can go to the individual web sites. All of the sugar free flavors are made of Splenda. Next time you are sick of your protein powder drinks try to mix a new flavor.
DaVinci Gourmet Sugar Free Flavored Syrups

I recently went to World Market (they were having a sale on the Torani) and got six different flavors in great big bottles…
But I’ve yet to use them. I’m going to have to give them a go, once I get my new blender and icecream maker. I definitely need to up my protein, and choking down those shakes has been a nightmare up until now!
The WMs all closed around here. I’ve picked up a raspberry and caramel from Sam’s Club tho.
The caramel in a bit of yogurt was good. I might try a chocolate-caramel shake tomorrow.
I’ve tried a few ice cream recipes, and so far am disappointed.
I’m addicted to these syrups. My protein is a joy to drink now. I bought 15 bottles from eurocafeimports.com. Best price on the Internet. The shipping is god-awful, but I saved so much money per bottle, it was still cheaper than Netrition for the same amount. I like my Max Chocolate Protein Powder, so now I have chocolate covered cherry shakes, chocolate strawberry, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate English toffee, chocolate Irish Cream, White Chocolate – it’s all yum yum good. I use the lemon and lime in Eggface’s protein cakes and ice creams. Thank God for these syrups!
hey…go to http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ she has some great recipes! scroll down on rt and you will see a protien ice cream recipe and i have not quite started that phase but all the reviews are great and i can’t wait! good luck hope you like it!

Found your blog while browsing Google. Bookmarked. Looking forward to more nutrition tips.
Hiya!! You can find lots of these locally — but not a lot of the fancy flavors… Did you know I made a whole list of things I have found locally in Mpls/St. Paul? I’m trying to keep it updated — but it might help you.. here’s the link: http://missmarymac.celticmoon.com/?page_id=1111
PS — if you haven’t found a protein shake you like AND is good for you, you’re not looking hard enough!! Are you a coffee drinker? One of my favorite tips is mixing my morning shake with cold decaf — yum!
