Eating Well, Cooking Great, Even if You’re Not a Chef

Darya over at Summer Tomato had another timely post today where she talks about her love of eating, but lack of love of actually cooking.

I love to cook almost as much as I love to eat, but despite what some of my friends have said over the years, I am no chef. I’m actually pretty much of a kitchen hack. And I’m fine with that, because (for the most part) I enjoy cooking.

But as Darya points out, you don’t need to be some sort of kitchen-ninja to cook well, and eat healthy on a daily basis.

That’s sort of my goal here with the cooking tips and recipes I share as well. To show you just how easy it is to get some really great tasting food that really works well with a post-wls lifestyle.

I mean, look at the recipe for refried beans – if you used canned beans, how hard is it to do a bit of chopping and then heating up in a pan. Oh yea, there’s the mashing with the back of a spoon.

Even the broiled shrimp recipe is uber-easy… and trust me, those shrimp will make a great impression on a potential date. Oh, but I wouldn’t recommend doing both shrimp and refried beans on the same meal. They don’t play well together.

To paraphrase one of my own inspirations, Alton Brown; With the right resources, a little skill, a bit of luck, and the willingness to just try it, even you can be cooking up some… er.. shoot, Well… you get the idea.
