You’re Gonna Splurge, So Make It Worth It

Ok, I know it’s been awhile… life has been getting “in the way”. (See! This is why I need YOU to help write for this site… c’mon, you know you know ya wanna!)

Anyways… I have some ideas for stuff to write, but till I get them fleshed out I thought I would throw some links at you of things I’ve come across lately that are worth sharing.

First, from Darya over at Summer Tomato, 6 Tips To Make Desserts Worth It. I realize the holidays are about over, and hopefully you survived them ok, and while this stuff isn’t aimed at those of us in a WLS situation, the tips make sense. And not just for desserts either… here’s their six tips.

1. Make it Formal
2. Size Matters
3. Make an Allowance
4. Don’t Treat Yourself When Hungry
5. Eat Healthy Meals
6. Stay on the Bandwagon

Now, just because I’m post-op, doesn’t mean I don’t still enjoy eating. I probably do so more now than I did pre-op, cause I know I wanna make everything count. So tips #1 and #3 really ring true for me. I don’t deprive myself of things I really really like, but I make sure I take the time to really enjoy them, and if it’s something that’s less than great for me, I try to make sure I am very judicious in how much I eat. Course, that’s where #6 comes in… and I’d follow that up with not killing yourself if you falter a bit, just pick yourself back up and get back on there.

About Rob

I had RNY Gastric Bypass on April 8, 2009. I went from my heaviest of over 380 down to a low of 188 (for about a day!) before working on rebuilding muscle and such. Now I maintain at about 205. WLS has changed my life in so many ways, including my career as I now tackle nutritional coaching and other obesity education issues.
