Not Enough Time!

Time management is a major issue for me since surgery. I think that lots of people hear the requirements from our surgeon and never really question the logistics. I went something like this. Ok Benson, you have to take a BLA BLA BLA …. Do you have any questions?

To which I looked at my very organized wife and she said “Got it.”

Well since then I have seen that there is an enormous commitment and it can not be ignored.

First as I have noticed from looking at BTV’s forum there seems to be a lot of trouble at first for most of us. Between protein, fluids, vitamins and exercise. Oh yea and while your at it can you work a full time job, play with the kids, yard work and see the doctor? By the way your going to have an acute gout attack for 5 days that will render you unable to move and ….. WAIT!

Ok the fact of the matter is that I focused as I often do on getting 100% compliance and order. I have since learned that is completely impossible. My Nutritionist and Doc Snyder (I had the Full Bar guy do my surgery) have both assured me that I should used the “A” plan as they call it as a goal or guide.

I think the rules of the tool are as Captain Barbosa said guidelines more that actual rules. I think that it is important to try hard to complete the program as your Doc laid it out don’t get me wrong. I just think that for baby post ops there is an unrealistic expectation sometimes about how the whole thing fits into an average day.

The moral I think is relax. Don’t FREAK OUT instead FREAK ON!

BTV was huge for me. There are no real support systems for us guys and there is a healthy vibe over there.

Make good choices and don’t sweat the small stuff. Just be careful not to go off the edge of the map!
