Listen to the Mighty Metabolic Men

Over the weekend, I got to play host for the Might Metabolic Men’s panel discussion as part of the 2012 WLSFA Meet & Greet.

the Mighty Metabolic Menu

It was a short Q&A type session where I asked questions of five men. Three of them were post-ops, one was the spouse of a post-op, and the fifth was both a post-op and the spouse of one.

I didn’t get a chance to start the recording in time to catch all of their introductions, but I did get all the main content. Here’s a quick rundown of the voices you’ll hear… I’m putting them in the order you’ll hear them.

Bob Badore: Had RNY in 2004 and lost over 180 pounds. His wife also had RNY who had surgery 1 month before he did and lost 170. His mom and sister have also both had WLS.

Rob Portinga: RNY in 2009, lost over 160 pounds.

Ian McGagh aka Baka on the BTV forums: Had RNY in July 2009 and has lost over 250 pounds

Jamie Miles: Banded in May 2009 and has lost 110 pounds

Andrew LeClair: Had WLS 32 years ago and has maintained 150 pounds lost.

Michael Towe: His wife had RNY in 2004 and his daughter is less than a year post-op.

I apologize for the audio quality, I was recording this on my phone… and tried to amplify it without distorting it too much.

About Rob

I had RNY Gastric Bypass on April 8, 2009. I went from my heaviest of over 380 down to a low of 188 (for about a day!) before working on rebuilding muscle and such. Now I maintain at about 225. WLS has changed my life in so many ways, including my career as I now tackle nutritional coaching and other obesity education issues and is also a co-host on The Wake Up Call, a health and wellness radio show.
