My Vegas Recap – Part 2

Wow, it’s Friday already. Friday the 13th to be exact. Good thing I’m not superstitious.

I met up with Kaitlin, Andrea and Beth again… and after breakfast we decided to catch the hotel shuttle to the strip and meander around awhile. As we were heading out the front door we ran in to none other than Shelly… better known as Eggface. She’s another that I’ve chatted with for a long time now on Twitter, but this was my first time meeting her. Linda also caught the shuttle… and we managed to cram ourselves in to the last few seats available for the ride over…

Packed on the Bus

Basically, we wandered the shops at Ceasar’s palace area for a bit.. Forum Shops I think they’re called? Punkbrite and a friend joined us… and yea, I got to wander around Vegas with a gaggle of women. Which while I had a good time… it means not covering a lot of ground very quickly. There was way too much sparkly, glittery stuff and shoes and such to stop and admire along the way.

We did bump in to Zoltar though… and Melting Mama had to stop and say hi…

After that we made our way through the Belagio. Last  year their garden area was Chinese themed cause of the Chinese new year. This year it was butterflies…

After that we went across the street to the Miracle Mile Shops for lunch, but not before I snapped what I think may just be one of my favorite shots of the weekend (of landmarks anyways…)

Then we hailed a couple cabs back to the hotel to get ready for the BTV Pre-Bash Party. It was great to see Mike and Toni and Lynnda again… as well as some of the other familiar faces from last year… and all the new faces as well. We had a great turnout with some great appetizers and some wonderful sugar-free cupcakes that Lynnda made. Those three are one reason I would even consider moving to CA at some point. I also got to see Andrea and Sarah once again – the two responsible for last year’s event.

After that it was time to head up to the “ball room” area for the opening night ceremonies. Celebrate Vitamins was the sponsor for the evenings festivities which included some basic introductions, the owners Vic and Nic got up to speak, and Nic even rocked the house on the guitar a bit. I got to chat a little bit with these guys on Saturday and they’ve both very nice, down to earth types… was very kewl to meet the guys and chat about some of their products. I do specifically recommend their multi-vites… I guess the Orange is the best seller and it probably is my favorite too.

Then there was a bit of a surprise for everyone… it’s Vegas right… so you would think folks would have been a little less shocked that there was a wedding. But no… I was at the table with Toni and Lynnda… and you should have heard them SQUEEEEEE!

Diva Taunia and Rob (the “other” Rob) finally tied the knot in front of family, friends and live on steaming web video. After that a few of us hit the Irish Pub in the casino to listen to the band and grab a little bite to eat before turning in for the night. Saturday morning was going to come very quickly…

About Rob

I had RNY Gastric Bypass on April 8, 2009. I went from my heaviest of over 380 down to a low of 188 (for about a day!) before working on rebuilding muscle and such. Now I maintain at about 205. WLS has changed my life in so many ways, including my career as I now tackle nutritional coaching and other obesity education issues.
